Basketball Game Preview: Newberry Bulldogs vs. Fairfield Central Griffins

Newberry hasn't had much luck against Fairfield Central recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Newberry Bulldogs just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Fairfield Central Griffins at 6:30 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Newberry is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Irmo on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Newberry was outmatched by Irmo and fell 77-33. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Fairfield Central was not able to break out of their rough patch back in December of 2024 as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 51-42 to Woodmont. That's two games in a row now that the Griffins have lost by exactly nine points.

Fairfield Central's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Newberry, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-11.

Newberry suffered a grim 60-37 defeat to Fairfield Central when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Newberry avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
