It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Mountain View ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They skirted past the Timberline Wolves 2-1. Those two runs were actually the fewest the Mavericks have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Davey Green spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits. He has become a key player for Mountain View: the team is undefeated when he allows at most three earned runs, but 6-7 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Carson Lupton, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Cade Burnham, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Mountain View's victory bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Timberline, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mountain View will host Boise at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Brave have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed seven runs per game on average), something the Mavericks will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Timberline, they will be playing at home against Owyhee at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Storm will roll in looking for their 17th straight win, something the Wolves surely won't give up without a fight.
