Softball Recap: Exeter Township's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Exeter Township had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Hempfield Black Knights. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Eagles also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2016.

Mackenzie O'Brien made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). O'Brien was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

O'Brien wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Meghan Moyer, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Exeter Township hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive games.

Exeter Township's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-10. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Hempfield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-8.

Coming up, Exeter Township is taking a road trip to take on Muhlenberg at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Muhls have averaged an impressive 8.9 runs per game this season. As for Hempfield, they will host Warwick at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
