Basketball Game Preview: Loveland Red Wolves vs. Poudre Impalas

Loveland and Poudre are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2016, but not for long. The Loveland Red Wolves will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Poudre Impalas at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Loveland is headed into Tuesday's matchup hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight losses. They fell 66-55 to Fossil Ridge on Friday.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jackson Gebhardt, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zayne Desouza, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards.

Meanwhile, Poudre was fully in charge on Friday, breezing past Greeley West 58-23. That looming 58-23 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Impalas yet this season.

Poudre's victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 7-9. As for Loveland, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-5.

Loveland didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Poudre when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 48-42 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Poudre's Luke Foster, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds.
