Baseball Game Preview: Hillsborough Terriers vs. Blake Yellow Jackets

Hillsborough is a perfect 10-0 against Blake since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Terriers will host the Yellow Jackets at 7:00 p.m. Hillsborough will be strutting in after a victory while Blake will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Tuesday, Hillsborough was able to grind out a solid win over Tampa Bay Tech, taking the game 6-3. The victory continues a trend for the Terriers in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won eight in a row.

The team relied heavily on Curtis Roberts, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. He has become a key player for Hillsborough: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-14 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Daniel Pena, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.

Roberts wasn't the only one making solid contact: Hillsborough kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in February.

Meanwhile, Blake was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Middleton.

Anthony Mathews made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Hillsborough's win bumped their record up to 5-15. As for Blake, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-18.

Everything went Hillsborough's way against Blake in their previous matchup back in May of 2022, as Hillsborough made off with a 7-1 victory. Will the Terriers repeat their success, or do the Yellow Jackets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
