Baseball Recap: Crest Gets the Win

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Crest ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the West Franklin Falcons. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lancers have posted since March 26th.

Drake Weir made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jensen Barker, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. He has become a key player for Crest: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least one home run, but 9-10 otherwise.

Crest has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-11 record this season. As for West Franklin, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-5.

Crest does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for West Franklin, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Osage City. The Indians have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.45 runs per game on average), something the Falcons will no doubt try to take advantage of.
