Baseball Recap: Westview Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Westview can now relate to. They fell just short of the La Jolla Vikings by a score of 2-0 on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wolverines of the 3-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2017.

Logan Johnson was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

This is the second loss in a row for Westview and nudges their season record down to 20-9. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for La Jolla, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-12.

Westview does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for La Jolla, they will be playing at home against Clairemont at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Vikings 3.9, the Chieftains 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
