Softball Recap: Mountain Brook Takes a Loss

Mountain Brook was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Cleveland Blue Raiders.

Mountain Brook got a good showing from Mackenzie Wedell, who tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That's the fewest hits Wedell has allowed over her last nine matches.

On the hitting side, Marianna Murray and Molly Shea stepped up to the plate in a big way. Murray scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Shea went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Mountain Brook's loss dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Cleveland, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Mountain Brook wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 20-0 victory against Huffman on the 11th. As for Cleveland, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 5-1 defeat against Spain Park on the 8th.
