Softball Recap: Colleton Prep Academy Gets the Win

While Colleton Prep Academy's victory against Jefferson Davis Academy wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The War Hawks had just enough and edged out the Raiders 7-6. The War Hawks haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Sydney Stivender made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over 4.2 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Murray, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brayli Stanfield, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Colleton Prep Academy's victory bumped their record up to 4-9. As for Jefferson Davis Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.

Colleton Prep Academy will square off against Dorchester Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Jefferson Davis Academy, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Augusta Christian at 5:30 p.m. on the 24th.
