Baseball Recap: Rossville Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Rossville can now relate to. They fell just short of the Clinton Prairie Gophers by a score of 12-10 on Friday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Hornets, who until this game were averaging 3.93 runs allowed.

AJ Kelley put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Nolan Britt and RJ Vantuinen did some serious damage despite the final result: Britt went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs, while Vantuinen went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Andrew Woolen was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Rossville has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 21-8 record this season. As for Clinton Prairie, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 19-7.

As of now, neither Rossville nor the Gophers have any future games scheduled.
