Basketball Recap: Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Gavin Bell and Bryce Nielsen

Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda was the 58-55 winner over Lakeview when they last played one another last Thursday, but their luck changed this time around. The Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda Coyotes took a hard 64-45 fall against the Lakeview Lakers on Saturday. The Coyotes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda's loss came despite strong showings from Bryce Nielsen and Gavin Bell. Nielsen almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds, while Bell posted seven points and five rebounds. Nielsen is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least nine every time he's taken the court this season.

Even though they lost, Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Lakeview, they moved to 1-4 with that win, which also ended their five-game losing streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda will venture away from home to square off against Westbrook-Walnut Grove at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lakeview, they will head out on the road to face off against Canby at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Someone's luck will take a turn for the better: Canby has lost three straight at home , while Lakeview has lost 11 on the road (dating back to last season).
