Baseball Game Preview: Azusa Aztecs vs. Diamond Bar Brahmas

The Azusa Aztecs are taking a road trip to square off against the Diamond Bar Brahmas at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Last Tuesday, Azusa came up short against Ontario and fell 11-7.

Zach Huizar was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Rafael Molina was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Diamond Bar's offense. They fell 5-0 to Crean Lutheran on Wednesday. The Brahmas have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Diamond Bar also got a good showing from Ethan McNeil, who tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Furthermore, McNeil didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.

Diamond Bar's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Azusa, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Diamond Bar's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Azusa has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .442. It's a different story for Diamond Bar, though, as they've only averaged .286. Will they be able to contain Azusa's hitters?

Azusa came up short against Diamond Bar in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, falling 10-7. Can Azusa avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
