Hernando took care of business in their home opener on Monday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Madison-Ridgeland Academy Patriots a 3-0 shutout. This was payback for the Tigers, who suffered a 3-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Hernando's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Axton Westmoreland, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Coming up, Hernando is taking a road trip to square off against Corinth at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Madison-Ridgeland Academy, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Oak Grove at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
