Football Recap: Ridgewood Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Friday just wasn't the day for Ridgewood's offense. They were outmatched by the West Aurora Blackhawks and fell 49-0. While losing is never fun, the Rebels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 401st, while the Blackhawks are ranked 129th).

West Aurora got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Mason Atkins out in front who rushed for 98 yards and one TD on only five carries, and also threw for 108 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Atkins really tore up the turf during one magnificent 78-yard run. Another back making a difference was Bryce Riley, who rushed for 91 yards and two scores on only five carries.

Ridgewood is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5. As for West Aurora, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.

Coming up, Ridgewood will take on Glenbard South at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rebels will need to watch out since the Raiders have now posted at least 31 points in their last four matchups. As for West Aurora, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Aurora East at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th.
