Basketball Game Preview: Zuni Thunderbirds vs. Newcomb Skyhawks

Zuni hasn't had much luck against Newcomb recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Zuni Thunderbirds will host the Newcomb Skyhawks at 7:00 p.m.

Zuni is headed into Wednesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They took a 50-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Thoreau.

Meanwhile, Newcomb came into Friday's game having lost seven straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 62-50 victory over Crownpoint on Friday.

Newcomb's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 6-12. As for Zuni, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.

Zuni beat Newcomb 71-60 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Will Zuni repeat their success, or does Newcomb have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
