Alpha Omega Academy has gone a perfect 4-0 against O'Connell recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Lions are taking a road trip to face off against the Buccaneers at 5:00 p.m. Alpha Omega Academy is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
Alpha Omega Academy proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by 20) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over The Covenant Preparatory School.
O'Connell came out on top against Legacy Christian Academy on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive 11-run first inning. The Buccaneers were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Warriors. The win continues a trend for the Buccaneers in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won five in a row.
Izzie Bertsch made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Bertsch was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Isabella Powell was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Izzy McNally, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
O'Connell always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .739. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Alpha Omega Academy's record now sits at 9-4. As for O'Connell, their record is now 5-2.
Everything went Alpha Omega Academy's way against O'Connell when the teams last played back in April of 2025, as Alpha Omega Academy made off with a 14-3 victory. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Buccaneers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
