Basketball Recap: Soda Springs Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Soda Springs can now relate to. They fell just short of The Ambrose School Archers by a score of 56-54 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Cardinals have suffered since December 20, 2024.

The Ambrose School's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lincoln Mathis, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds. The Ambrose School is 14-5 when Mathis posts eight or more boards, but 2-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Chuck Kingsley, who posted 14 points.

Soda Springs' loss dropped their record down to 14-11. As for The Ambrose School, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season.

Soda Springs didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 65-56 win against Orofino on the 7th. As for The Ambrose School, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 52-51 defeat against Declo on the 7th.
