Baseball Game Preview: St. Anthony Saints vs. Bellflower Buccaneers

The St. Anthony Saints will square off against the Bellflower Buccaneers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (St. Anthony has six straight wins, Bellflower has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

St. Anthony's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Verbum Dei Jesuit as they made off with a 13-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Saints, who have now won nine contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Jayden Allen was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyle Shisbey, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: St. Anthony kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Gahr hit Bellflower with a 11-run first inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Buccaneers lost 13-3 to the Gladiators.

St. Anthony's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-8. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Bellflower, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-17.
