Softball Game Preview: Wheaton North Falcons vs. St. Charles North North Stars

The Wheaton North Falcons will square off against the St. Charles North North Stars at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Wheaton North is coming into the contest hot, having won their last eight games.

Wheaton North is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Illinois' top teams: Lake Park, who was ranked 15th at the time (Wheaton North was ranked fifth). The Falcons' pitcher stepped up to hand the Lancers a 2-0 shutout on Friday.

The result came thanks to Hannah Wulf's shutout, as she gave up just five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Reagan Crosthwaite was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Makayla Grantz, who went 3-for-4 with one run.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Charles North). Everything went their way against Geneva on Friday as they made off with a 20-12 win. The North Stars haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Wheaton North's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for St. Charles North, their win bumped their record up to 13-4.

Wheaton North beat St. Charles North 3-0 in their previous meeting back in April. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the North Stars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
