Baseball Recap: Raytown's Losing Streak Snapped at Ten Games

Raytown can bid farewell to their ten-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They came out on top against the Ruskin Golden Eagles by a score of 9-6. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-3 back in April.

William Buckman made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on DeWane Williams, who went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. AJ Washington was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Raytown hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive contests.

Raytown's record now sits at 3-12. As for Ruskin, their defeat was their 23rd straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-23.

Raytown and Ruskin could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings. The Bluejays will face off against Grain Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank disadvantage (374 vs. 63). Meanwhile, Ruskin (ranked 463rd) will meet Truman (ranked 88th) at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
