Recap: Hedley Owls vs. Memphis Cyclones

The Hedley Owls's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Memphis an easy 68-46 victory. Hedley lost against Memphis in their previous head to head last Thursday, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 64-20 score last time.

Memphis got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Braden Bond out in front who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 16 rebounds. The matchup was Bond's third in a row with at least ten points. Eli Martin was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Hedley's defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-7. As for Memphis, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Hedley will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Shamrock at 12:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Memphis will be home for the holidays to greet Hartley at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Hartley has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Memphis will arrive with three straight wins.
