Basketball Recap: Phalen Leadership Academy's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Phalen Leadership Academy came into Wednesday's game having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They secured an 81-75 W over the KIPP Legacy Lions on Wednesday. That's more bragging rights for the Falcon, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Phalen Leadership Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zinan Taylor, who posted 23 points. Brenton Smith was another key player, putting up 12 points and five boards.

KIPP Legacy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Nick Mapp, who went 10 of 16 on his way to 25 points and six assists. Mapp's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Triston Lewis also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Phalen Leadership Academy's record is now 6-10. As for KIPP Legacy, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-4.

Phalen Leadership Academy has already played their next contest, a 67-16 victory against Rooted School on the 16th. As for KIPP Legacy, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the KIPP Legacy Lions challenge the Tindley Tigers at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
