Basketball Recap: Homestead Continues Home Dominance on Monday

Homestead had won five straight home games dating back to last season and Alissa Brown did her part to make it six on Monday. The Homestead Broncos enjoyed a cozy 47-31 victory over the Palmetto Panthers thanks in part to Brown, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten boards. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played.

Another player making a difference was Zakiera Cobb, who posted eight points. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points.

When it comes to explaining why Palmetto lost, don't look at Alessandra Falcon. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Falcon is becoming a predictor of Palmetto's success: when she posts at least ten boards the team is 2-1 (and 0-3 when she doesn't).

Homestead's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Palmetto, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.

Homestead will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Northwestern at 7:30 p.m. on January 8, 2025. As for Palmetto, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 48-9 victory against Central on the 18th.
