Basketball Game Preview: Brantley Bulldogs vs. Georgiana Panthers

The Brantley Bulldogs will head out to face off against the Georgiana Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Brantley is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing McKenzie: they outscored them in every quarter. Brantley was the clear victor by a 53-28 margin over McKenzie on Saturday. The Bulldogs pushed the score to 42-18 by the end of the third, a deficit the Tigers had little chance of recovering from.

Brantley's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Myia Mount, who posted six points in addition to 17 boards and five steals, and Alex Grimes, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 11 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Mount is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last 33 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Dezirae Stevens, who went 7 for 15 en route to 15 points and eight boards.

Brantley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 18 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Georgiana challenged Red Level on Saturday. Georgiana claimed a resounding 49-21 victory over Red Level. The win was familiar territory for the Panthers who have now won three matchups in a row.

Brantley's record is now 10-8. As for Georgiana, their record is now 11-9.

Brantley beat Georgiana 67-56 in their previous meeting last Thursday. The rematch might be a little tougher for Brantley since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
