Football Recap: Cross Roads Comes Up Short

If Cross Roads was feeling good fresh off their 41-20 takedown of Bishop Gorman last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bobcats were beaten by the Leon Cougars 55-0 on Friday. The Bobcats lost against the Cougars in their previous head to head back in September of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 41-21 score last time.

Landon Thomas was nothing short of spectacular for Leon: he rushed for 118 yards and one score on only six carries, and also threw for 120 yards and a pair of TDs on only 11 passes. Another player making a difference was Matthew Lim, who rushed for 57 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Cross Roads' loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Leon, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Looking ahead, Cross Roads will square off against Gateway Charter Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Leon, they will face off against Bruceville-Eddy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
