Softball Recap: St. Augustine Catholic Comes Up Short

If St. Augustine Catholic was riding high fresh off their 34-15 takedown of Santa Rita last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. St. Augustine Catholic came up short against the Benson Bobcats on Wednesday, falling 19-7. The Wolves have struggled against the Bobcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Lourdes Gamez was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. She is also on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last four games she's played. Maria Martinez was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

St. Augustine Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Benson, they picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 6-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Augustine Catholic will challenge Palo Verde at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Benson, they will face off against San Miguel at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Benson is facing San Miguel at the right time seeing as San Miguel is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
