Baseball Game Preview: Moshannon Valley Black Knights/Damsels vs. Cambria Heights Highlanders

The Moshannon Valley Black Knights/Damsels are taking a road trip to challenge the Cambria Heights Highlanders at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

Moshannon Valley fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Bellwood-Antis on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 4-3. The Black Knights/Damsels haven't had much luck with the Blue Devils recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Meanwhile, Cambria Heights waltzed into their match on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Red Dragons 13-1. Considering the Highlanders have won three games by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Bryce Lewis made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Those two hits allowed gave him a new career-low. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Carson Lobick was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-5. Those hits were his first of the season. Stephen Nelen was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Cambria Heights kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Cambria Heights' record now sits at 4-1. As for Moshannon Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Moshannon Valley took their win against Cambria Heights in their previous meeting back in May of 2022 by a conclusive 11-2. Will Moshannon Valley repeat their success, or does Cambria Heights has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
