Floyd County strolled into their game  on Friday with a perfect  record and they left with the same. They walked away with  a   25-14  win over the Martinsville Bulldogs. This was payback for the Buffaloes, who suffered  a  49-13  defeat the last time these two teams met.
  Sam Phillips went supernova, rushing for 93 yards and one  touchdown, while also throwing for 163 yards and a pair of  TDs on only 12 passes. Another player making a difference was  Max Harris, who picked up 88 receiving yards and one  score.
 When it comes to explaining why Martinsville lost, don't look at  Denyiran Hodge. Despite the final result, he picked up 73 receiving yards and a pair of  TDs, and also rushed for 35 yards. Hodge also  hauled in two  receiving touchdowns, marking his first of the season.
Floyd County's victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Martinsville,  they are  on  a  five-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 1-5.
 Looking ahead, Floyd County will welcome Carroll County  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. As for Martinsville, they are taking a road trip to  face off against Tunstall  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. The Bulldogs will be up against the Trojans' rather soft defense (which has allowed 38.17  points per  game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
