Preview: Anahuac vs. Liberty
Anahuac is 1-8-1 against Liberty since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Anahuac Panthers will look to defend their home pitch against the Liberty Panthers at 5:00 p.m. Anahuac is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
Anahuac fell victim to East Chambers' stalwart defense on Monday and couldn't make it onto the board. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 3-0 walloping at the hands of the Buccaneers.
Meanwhile, Liberty kept a clean sheet against West Fork on Tuesday. They won by a goal and slipped past the Gators 1-0. One seems to be a good number for Liberty as the team scooped up a win with the same number of goals in their previous game.
Anahuac dropped their record down to 0-6 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only scored one goal over those four matches. As for Liberty, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-7-1.
Anahuac beat Liberty by a goal in their previous matchup back in March of 2023, winning 3-2. Will Anahuac repeat their success, or does Liberty have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
