Softball Recap: Notre Dame Snaps 12-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Notre Dame fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Sulphur on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Golden Tors by a score of 6-5. The matchup marked the Pioneers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Madaline Johnson was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she didn't allow a single earned run over 7.1 innings pitched.

At the plate, Malayna Daigle made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run and three stolen bases. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Keagan Valdetero, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Notre Dame's loss ended a 12-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 30-2. As for Sulphur, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a massive bump to their 17-12 record this season.

Notre Dame does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sulphur, they will face off against Northshore on Saturday.
