Football Recap: Sapulpa Chieftains vs. Yukon Millers
Sapulpa fell victim to Yukon and their airtight defense on Friday. They were beaten by the Millers 40-0. The Chieftains lost against the Millers in their previous head to head back in September of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 10-7 score last time.
Yukon got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Wyatt Jones out in front who threw for 215 yards and a pair of TDs on only 16 passes, and also rushed for 52 yards and one touchdown. Another rusher making a difference was Prince Shelburn, who rushed for 101 yards and two scores.
Sapulpa's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Yukon, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Sapulpa wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 21-7 loss against Grove on the 19th. As for Yukon, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Westmoore at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th. This will be the Millers' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
