Baseball Recap: Akron Continues Home Dominance on Saturday

There's no place like home for Akron, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They walked away with an 8-4 victory over the Simla Cubs on Saturday.

Tucker Stahn made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Caleb Poss was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Jakzon Livesay, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases.

Akron pushed their record up to 1-1 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Simla, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, Akron will venture away from home to take on Sedgwick County at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sedgwick County will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Akron surely won't give up without a fight. As for Simla, they will be playing at home against Limon at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
