Recap: Hough Huskies vs. North Mecklenburg Vikings

It was a good run, but the Hough Huskies unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 63-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of North Mecklenburg. While losing is never fun, Hough can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 155th, while North Mecklenburg is ranked 49th).

Hough lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Chloe Galombeck, who scored 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Galombeck has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Alexis Otto, who scored nine points.

Boston Bates was her usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with six rebounds for North Mecklenburg. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Knox, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and six assists.

Hough's defeat dropped their record down to 17-9. As for North Mecklenburg, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 games, which provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season.

Hough's road trip will continue as they head out to face Myers Park at 7:00 p.m. on February 27th. Myers Park is on a 12-game streak of home wins, Hough a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. North Mecklenburg is on the road again on Friday and plays Mallard Creek at 6:00 p.m. on February 23rd. One thing working in Mallard Creek's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 15 games.
