Basketball Recap: Chelsea Njoku Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat South Cobb

McEachern won the last time they faced South Cobb and things went their way on Friday too. The McEachern Indians took down the South Cobb Eagles 50-31. The victory was some much needed relief for the Indians as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

McEachern's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chelsea Njoku, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. Those 18 points gave Njoku a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Summer Edwards, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine boards.

McEachern smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive matches.

Despite the defeat, South Cobb saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jordyn Martin posted ten points.

McEachern's victory bumped their record up to 10-13. As for South Cobb, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.

McEachern has already played their next contest, a 46-31 win against Osborne on the 4th. As for South Cobb, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 68-19 loss against Hillgrove on the 4th.
