Softball Recap: Reese Comes Up Short

Reese extended their losing streak to seven on Monday, dropping their season record down to 15-9 in the process. They fell 8-4 to the Unionville-Sebewaing Patriots. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-0 on Monday.

Reese saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Will, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another was Jaidyn VanOchten, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.

As for Unionville-Sebewaing, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games.

On Unionville-Sebewaing's side, Olivia Green made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Green has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Macy Prime, who went 3-for-4 with two triples, four RBI, and one run. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Natalie Degroat was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs, and one RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Reese will host Heritage at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Unionville-Sebewaing, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Vassar at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
