Softball Recap: Rhinelander Takes a Loss

Rhinelander extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 2-5 in the process. They lost 15-0 to the Medford Raiders. If the Hodags were looking for revenge after losing 11-1 to the Raiders when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Medford, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by eight runs or more this season.

For Medford's part, Rylee Hraby made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hraby was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zayleah Leonhardt, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, seven RBI, and two doubles. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Chelsea Gebauer was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Medford beat Rhinelander by a score of 20-2 later that day.
