Basketball Recap: West Florida Baptist Academy Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins at Home

West Florida Baptist Academy has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 42-31 to the Paxton Bobcats on Monday. The matchup marked the Conquerors' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

West Florida Baptist Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shepard Brown, who posted 11 points and four steals. That's the most steals Brown has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Pearce, who earned five points and seven boards.

Paxton found their leader in freshman Cade Stewart, who had 12 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for Stewart. Wade Borgesen was another key player, putting up three points and seven steals.

West Florida Baptist Academy's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-4. As for Paxton, their win bumped their record up to 8-10.

West Florida Baptist Academy will venture away from home to face off against Aletheia Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Aletheia Christian Academy will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something West Florida Baptist Academy surely won't give up without a fight. As for Paxton, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 49-43 win against Sneads on the 14th.
