Softball Recap: Cardinal Finds Home Field Redemption Against Crestwood

There's no place like home for Cardinal, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Crestwood Red Devils 21-20. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-6 on April 14th.

Emily Pleva was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. Rylie Leichtman also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Cardinal was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win got Cardinal back to even at 7-7. As for Crestwood, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-13.

Looking ahead, Cardinal will welcome Cuyahoga Heights at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Huskies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Red Wolves have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season. As for Crestwood, they will head out on the road to challenge Kirtland at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
