Softball Recap: Valencia Jaguars vs. Miyamura Patriots
Valencia extended their losing streak to seven on Saturday, dropping them down to 2-8. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 14-13 heartbreaker at the hands of the Miyamura Patriots. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Jaguars of the 20-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.
Valencia saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Audrey Ash, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.
As for Miyamura, the victory got them back to even at 7-7. That's two games straight that they have won by just one run.
On Miyamura's side, they got a great performance from Bailey Yazzie as she didn't allow a single earned run over 6.1 innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Iris Day Chief was incredible, firing off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while going 4-for-4. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Shelby Haskie, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Valencia wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 17-0 win against Pojoaque Valley on the 21st. As for Miyamura, they have also already played their next contest, a 6-3 loss against Kirtland Central on the 21st.
