Softball Recap: Benton Central Bison vs. West Lafayette Red Devils        
        
		
            
 Benton Central is still looking for their season's first win. They lost  18-5 to the West Lafayette Red Devils on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Benton Central of the  18-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture  back in April.
  Mariyah Rich made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and  scored a  run while going 1-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of  Madison Minniear, who  scored a  run and  stole two bases while going 1-for-2.
 On West Lafayette's side,  Izzy Ascarelli made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound,   tossing two innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   two  hits. Ascarelli was also stellar in the batter's box,  scoring two  runs and  stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.
 In other batting news, West Lafayette got a  massive  performance out of  Ellie Wilcoxson, who  scored three  runs and  stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was  Adrianne Tolen, who  scored two  runs while  getting on base  in four of her five plate appearances.
 Benton Central's loss dropped their record down to 0-12. As for West Lafayette, the  victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 12-2.
 Both  teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Benton Central will take on Lafayette Central Catholic at 6:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. As for West Lafayette, they will be playing at home against Twin Lakes at 5:30  p.m.  on Wednesday. One thing working in West Lafayette's favor is that they have posted big  run totals  in their last three contests.
