Recap: Boulder Panthers vs. Rocky Mountain Lobos

After flying high against the Northglenn Norsemen last Thursday, the Boulder Panthers came back down to earth. Boulder fell 55-46 to Rocky Mountain on Saturday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Boulder in their matchups with Rocky Mountain: they've now lost four in a row.

Boulder lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kyle Blauch, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Bruce Matthews, who scored 11 points.

Avantae Hood continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Rocky Mountain, scoring 18 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hood has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Peyton Matkin, who scored 15 points along with two steals.

Boulder has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for Rocky Mountain, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Boulder will challenge Westminster at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Rocky Mountain, Rocky Mountain and Broomfield will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Broomfield will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
