Basketball Recap: Allison Ramirez's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Edison over Seguin

Edison fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Seguin on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 39-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Seguin Matadors. The Golden Bears have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Edison lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Allison Ramirez, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 17 points. Those 17 points gave Ramirez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Malajah Gray, who posted eight points along with nine rebounds and three steals.

Seguin's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Rebeka Wilke, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 15 rebounds. Wilke has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Imani Winn was another key player, putting up 12 points and seven rebounds.

Edison's defeat dropped their record down to 6-18. As for Seguin, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-14 record this season.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Highlands the next time they take the court. Seguin will head out to face Highlands at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, while Edison will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on January 7th.
