Baseball Recap: Burney Comes Up Short

Burney extended their losing streak to eight on Tuesday, dropping them down to 4-16. They lost 11-1 to the Redding Christian Lions. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-0 back in April.

Burney saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Wyatt Howard, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

As for Redding Christian, their record is now 9-10. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

On Redding Christian's side, Kobe Corona and Lukas McLaughlin made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Corona pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, McLaughlin tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). At bat, Corona went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double, while McLaughlin went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That double was Corona's first of the season.

In other batting news, Caleb Zick and Garrett Webb did most of the damage at the plate: Zick went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Webb went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI Webb has posted since back in March. Drew Stark was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
