The Mott Marauders are taking a road trip to square off against the Clawson Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Clawson took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Mott, who comes in off a win.
Mott's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Sterling Heights 14-0. The result was nothing new for the Marauders, who have now won five contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Kevin Barden and Alex Dunn made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Barden pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Dunn didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. At the plate, Barden went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple, while Dunn went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dustin Mayfield, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Lucas Wypiszewski was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.
Meanwhile, Clawson unfortunately witnessed the end of their ten-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of New Haven by a score of 5-4.
Clawson saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Fulks, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
Clawson's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 13-6. As for Mott, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-6.
Mott couldn't quite get it done against Clawson when the teams last played two weeks ago as they fell 13-9. Can the Marauders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
