Softball Recap: Hamilton Comes Up Short

Hamilton extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 2-12. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 14-13 heartbreaker at the hands of the Bruceville-Eddy Eagles. Even if the Bulldogs couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

As for Bruceville-Eddy, they moved to 3-10 with that win, which also ended their eight-game losing streak. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for their hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

For Bruceville-Eddy's part, the team relied heavily on Addie Crump, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance also gave Crump a new career-high in hits (three). Another player making a difference was Avah Williams, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Coming up, Hamilton will face off against Valley Mills at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Bruceville-Eddy, they will square off against Crawford at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pirates have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season.
