Soccer Game Preview: South Brunswick vs. Topsail

South Brunswick hasn't had much luck against Topsail recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Cougars are taking a road trip to take on the Pirates at 6:00 p.m. South Brunswick has given up an average of 2.9 goals per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

South Brunswick is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They came up short against Hoggard, falling 9-0. While losing is never fun, South Brunswick can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 205th, while Hoggard are ranked ninth).

Meanwhile, Topsail hadn't done well against Ashley recently (they were 0-8-1 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Pirates never let the Screaming Eagle get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. Topsail's winning goal came courtesy of Emma Frazelle.

South Brunswick's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8-3. As for Topsail, they now have a winning record of 6-5-5.

South Brunswick couldn't quite get it done against Topsail when the teams last played two weeks ago as they fell 2-0. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
