Baseball Recap: Centerville Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Centerville can now relate to. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (9-8), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. They have struggled against the Raiders recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Jacob Alford was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Arian Van Skyock and Jaxon Lear did some serious damage despite the final result: Van Skyock went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Lear went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Centerville is 2-1 when Lear posts two or more runs, but 3-12 otherwise.

Centerville's loss dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Shenandoah, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season.

As of now, neither Centerville nor Shenandoah have any future games scheduled.
