Football Recap: Willamette Wolverines vs. North Eugene Highlanders
Willamette gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They blew past the North Eugene Highlanders 28-0 at home. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Wolverines as it put an end to their nine-game losing streak dating back to last season.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Willamette's defense and their five sacks. Tony Cumberland was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up threehimself.
This is the second loss in a row for North Eugene and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Willamette will face off against Corvallis at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for North Eugene, they will be playing in front of their home fans against South Eugene at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
