Preview: Edna Karr Cougars vs. St. Amant Gators
The Edna Karr Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the St. Amant Gators at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Edna Karr will be strutting in after a win while St. Amant will be coming in after a loss.
Last Saturday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Edna Karr beat Mt. Carmel 46-41. Given Edna Karr's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 78th, while Mt. Carmel is ranked 232nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Samiya Clayton and Cass Antoine were among the main playmakers for Edna Karr as the former scored 12 points and the latter scored 14 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which Antoine has scored at least 25% of Edna Karr's points.
Meanwhile, St. Amant pushed their score all the way to 59 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Brusly by a score of 62-59. St. Amant has struggled against Brusly recently, as their match on Saturday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Chalmette's victory bumped their season record to 0-0 while Edna Karr's defeat dropped theirs to 5-3.
