Basketball Game Preview: Fossil Ridge SaberCats vs. Windsor Wizards

The Fossil Ridge SaberCats will face off against the Windsor Wizards at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Fossil Ridge is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

Fossil Ridge is headed into the match having just posted their closest win since February 2, 2024 on Tuesday. They skirted past Fort Collins 50-47. Given the SaberCats' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while the Lambkins are ranked 201st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Windsor was fully in charge on Tuesday, breezing past Greeley West 62-21. The Wizards have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 24 points or more this season.

Fossil Ridge better keep an eye on John Backhaus. He was instrumental in Windsor's win, going 7 for 11 on his way to 18 points and eight rebounds. That's the most points Backhaus has posted since back in December of 2024. Marcus Martinez was another key player, going 5 of 12 en route to 11 points.

Fossil Ridge has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points per game. As for Windsor, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-4.
